Bókin Difficulty of Freedom/Freedom of Difficulty er afrakstur samstarfs listamanna og listnema við Listaháskólann í Umeå í Svíþjóð og Listaháskóla Íslands undir stjórn Erlu S. Haraldsdóttur og Carin Ellberg. Tilgangur verkefnisins var að fá listamenn til að vinna innan fyrirfram ákveðins kerfis með það að markmiði að breyta nálgun þeirra við sköpunarferlið. Ferlinu og afrakstri þess er miðlað í gullfallegri bók þar sem þessar formlegu reglur eru kynntar öllum til afnota í eigin sköpun.
Difficulty of Freedom / Freedom of Difficulty documents the artistic research project undertaken in 2014 by the artists Erla Haraldsdóttir and Carin Ellberg with artists and students of the Academy of Fine Arts, Umeå University (Sweden) and School of Fine Arts (Reykjavik/Iceland). For a few months, all those involved gave tasks to, and received tasks from, another person in the group (which ultimately culminated in an exhibition together).
